Introduction
The Greater
Detroit Aquarium Society has adopted the following
Aquatic
Horticultural Award Program to encourage members to
keep and
propagate a wider variety of aquatic plants and to
share with
others the knowledge they have gained. The program
is open to all
members and there is no time limit on
propagating a
particular aquatic plant. You proceed at your
own pace.
Awards are given as detailed in the rules. To get
started, all you
need is an aquatic plant, something to
propagate it in,
and a short report to fill out. Read the rules
that follow and
you are on your way.
Purpose:
1) To promote the
keeping and propagating of aquatic plants.
2) To recognize
outstanding achievement in the growing and
propagating of
these plants.
3) To gather
information and knowledge of aquatic plants and
their
requirements, with the additional bonus of having
more beautiful
aquariums.
4) To identify new
aquatic plant species and to determine
conditions
necessary for their care in the aquarium.
5) To make accounts
of successful growing and propagating
techniques
available to Tropic Tank Talk and to the
membership at
general meetings.
